Well, it's been a while!!! Today we talk to our friend Mandi, who stayed at Lickleyhead Castle with us recently on one of our art retreats, and encountered a super scary encounter with a castle ghost!! She was certainly braver than us sleeping in that same room afterwards!! We also chat about some other spooky encounters that happened while we were there!
And if you'd like to WATCH this crazy conversation, you're welcome to do so on your YouTube channel!
Karen also made a video on her Art YouTube channel about the Art Retreat experience as a whole at Lickleyhead Castle. You can enjoy a sneak peek here!

Well lovely listeners, we've had quite the break! But we are back with a super jam packed episode!
And before you listen or watch, be sure to scroll down to see the extra tid bits and videos that were taken while we were all three together! You can actually SEE Ginger interacting with these spirits! This may be 1.5 hours long but its 1.5 hours FULL of real life ghost stories from our recent trip to Scotland! Karen and Ginger joined Lucy in her homeland and we stayed at Wardhill Castle for a week. Ginger is our special ghost whisperer!! In this episode she tells us all about the castle ghosts that she encountered!
If you'd fancy hanging with use "in person" you can watch the YouTube version as well!!
Here's the little 3 minute video I took of Ginger while we were in the Gold Room - simply incredible!!!
And here's another!
If you're not familiar with Wardhill Castle, it's actually the home of the Leslie family and has been in their family for 900 years!
You may be more familiar with the Leslie family than you realize! Their daughter, Rose, is a famous movie actress! When we were there in June of 2022 (when this video was recorded) Rose landed the cover of Bizaar Magazine for that exact month!) which was ummmm... a bit weird and surreal! Especially since the mag was just casually sitting out on the castle's coffee table in the cozy sitting room!
And here's the castle itself!!

You'll also hear me talk about the flickering lights in Crathes Castles and here's the little video I got while I was there.
That's it for today!!! Thanks so much for hanging out with us!
We welcome back our resident ghostie expert Ginger! She is joining us again with some more personal ghost stories, including some Lee encounters (Lee is her resident ghost!)
Join us to chat with her, be a wee bit spooked (Karen and Lucy certainly are!), and try to get to the bottom of what all this ghost stuff is about anyways! Apologies for the slight audio mishaps (was Lee haunting our equipment??) despite bragging about how great our sound has gotten since we began... If you have your own spooky encounter you want to share with us (it doesn't have to be Scottish, we do not discriminate against ghosts of other cultures and countries!) then get in touch by going to our website at https://www.1scot1not.com/contact.html you can also check out our merch, art club and more at https://www.1scot1not.com
Wanna hang out with us in person? Join us here on YouTube!!!
Today Karen, with the help of famed folklorist Katherine Briggs, is doing a folklore deep dive to try and make sense of the varied fairy and ghost sightings that have been so common throughout Scottish (and Celtic) history. We discuss all manner of supernatural creatures in this in-depth episode! From Hobgoblins, Dobies, Brownies to Boggarts, Silkies, Dunnies, and, always, a bunch of true ghosts and modern-day hauntings thrown in for good measure!!
Huge thanks to Ginger and Altina for submitting their amazing ghost stories!! Here's one of the photos submitted by Altina that we show on the YouTube video version (below).
Can you see that freaky face staring back at you?!?! Ahhhhhhh!!!!
Click the play button below if you want to "see" the Podcast instead of just listen! Enjoy!! Have your own spooky story?!! We want to hear from you! Email us at [email protected]!
From the very first episode, our art student, Nikki Web has been relaying us some of her spooky ghost and family stories from growing up in Scotland. Today she has graced us with her presence and is here to tell us these fun stories in PERSON! Pour yourself a wee dram, sit back, relax and listen with us recount some of her super cool ghosty sightings, experiences, and fascinating dreams!
If you'd rather hang out with us "in person" you can watch the un-edited YouTube version here!
We are THRILLED to welcome a very special Guest to the podcast today!!! Her name is Ginger and she has been "blessed" from a young age to be able to detect energies around her. And from humans to not-so-humans, detect things she does indeed!!! Pour yourself perhaps MORE than a wee dram for this episode (like, a regular or a large dram would be good) because this is 2 hours of ghost telling stories you are NOT going to want to miss!!!
Check out these eerie photos from Ginger!
These were taken from her trip to Hawaii. Looks like a fairy to us!!!
In this photo you can see the orbs she is talking about, where the tour guide made everyone leave the area immediately!
In the Podcast episode, Ginger also references being able to see a figure between two trees as the guide was ushering everyone back to the bus.
For those who'd like to laugh along with us "in person", check out the video version of the Episode! (Usually the video version is unedited but adding in the background music was so much work (and I think sounded much better!) so I am giving you that version here too!
Did you know that there is more than one Green Lady Ghost that haunts Scotland's Castles?? Neither did we before this episode (4) of the 1 Scot 1 Not Podcast!
Listen to learn more about some of Scotland's most infamous ghost guests, why there may be so many green lady ghosts in Scotland, the real reason why ghosts wear sheets and more! This episode is especially timely as Lucy tells us about Crathes Castle and ghosts just as Karen returns from a trip to Savannah where she stays at a haunted mansion!!! Get ready to laugh and drink along with us for another fun episode!
For those who love a visual, here's the uncut video version!
