Well friends, we've hit a new low on the 1 Scot 1 Not Podcast! Definitely keep your little ones out of the room while you're watching/listening to this episode. In an unexpected twist we are covering everything from penis necklaces to sexual positions and NOT ON PURPOSE! WE promise!
Karen had no idea what she was going to uncover when researching for this week's episode but uncover she most certainly DID!
Pour yourself more than a little wee dram this week (we suggest a martini with mysterious particulate matter) - but really anything alcoholic will suffice!
And let's go back in time....to a simpler life filled with red thread, dread and a whole bunch of cows. Have cool, old time-y stories filled with ghosts and fairies?
The great article that Karen is reading from (by the adorably named website, "Wee White Hoose" is HERE.
Read more about the ancient Romans and Greeks using penis statues as protection against the Evil Eye HERE.
(photo shown taken from article).
Because no, as hard we as try, we cannot make this stuff up!
And upon looking up the definition for "Stoup" as it relates to butter churning in Scotland, I was immediately confronted with this image and the many articles and websites about this particular sexual position!
I DID NOT KNOW THIS SEARCH WOULD TAKE ME HERE!
Sometimes the most fun comes from hanging out with us in person so you can feel as though you're apart of our zoom call!! Press play below!
We are having a green lady ghostie experience and Sean Campbell (Karen's husband) is NOT invited! This week both Karen and Lucy recount some stories of this strange faerie/ghost creature of Scotland. Find out why we think they may actually be poltergeists, why you wouldn't want to piss them off (dust in your food anyone?!) and whether Karen is team Edward or Jacob.
If you want to share some tales with us of...well anything really (not that we're desperate...but we're desperate!) email us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Come share a wee drink with us! We invite you to listen "in person!"
As much as we are terrified of Poltergeists and have absolutely ZERO interest in discussing them, that's ALL we seem to talk about his week!
The upside is that by devoting our time and attention and our super wise and expansive scientific knowledge of all things supernatural (we did read 2 whole Wikipedia pages, thank you very much) we have come to the conclusion that while yes, these are TOTAL wretched asshole creatures, we did figure they've probably just been Fairies the whole time throughout history so now we can maybe be a lot less scared of them.
And maybe, just maybe Poltergeists are even just a wee bit funny, assuming you put their actions to some lighthearted background music. Except when they leave bits of human flesh wrapped up in tissue paper, inside the crofts they've just burned to the ground. Did we mention they are assholes?
PLEASE share your spooky tales with us! We want to hear them!

This whole episode came about because a listener, Rachel Wise, emailed us a super cool and real Poltergeist story that you can read in it's entirety HERE.
Thank you so much Rachel! We super appreciate your contribution to today's episode!

After you have a listen, join in the poll: Which death would you choose? Having your hands, feet, and bits chopped off? Or would you rather be burned at the stake?!! Inquiring minds want to know!
